Businesses rarely stay exactly the same from one year to the next. You hire employees, increase sales, buy another truck, purchase equipment, take on larger jobs, or move into additional space. The problem is your insurance policy doesn’t automatically know your business changed. If nobody tells us, you could discover after a claim or during an audit that your insurance no longer matches the business you’re actually operating.
That’s why we recommend an annual insurance check-up. Start with six questions: Did your payroll or sales increase or decrease? Did you add or remove vehicles? Did you purchase expensive tools, machinery, or equipment? Did you move, buy, or expand a location? Does your business have a cyber exposure that should be insured? Are your building and property values still adequate at today’s replacement costs? A “yes” to any of these questions deserves a closer look.
This isn’t only about buying more insurance. Sometimes a review uncovers vehicles you’ve sold, equipment you no longer own, locations you’ve closed, or classifications that need to be updated. Other times it identifies a serious gap. For example, a business may have doubled in size over several years while its property, equipment, or liability limits haven’t changed at all.
Think of your annual insurance review as a financial check-up for your business. Spending 15 or 20 minutes reviewing what’s changed can help prevent unpleasant surprises later. Before your next renewal, give our office a call and let’s make sure your insurance still matches the business you’ve worked so hard to build.
